While I as gathering data for my 'Low Taxes' story, I downloaded the Pewaukee Fire Department 2004 Annual Report. And what a wonderful piece of workcrap that is. There is very little usefull information in it.
Sure there are pictures of fire trucks, pictures of fire houses, pictures of fire fighters and even a picture of the Mayor. But there are so many pictures, and so many goofy fonts in the text that the whole thing looks more like a 6th grade school project than an official report. "Hey, let's see how many pictures we can put in here and maybe they won't notice the fact that we didn't do our research!!"
- How about a table of the number and types of calls?
- How about a list of stations and equipment?
- How about just plain courier font in black?
- How about some information that people can actually use?
Chief Pinter, I am calling on you to come up with a real annual report for 2005 and not an exercise in all the over utilized, unnecessary features of MS Word.

Unlike many corporate reports, it was not highlighted by filler, but rather with facts like:
An organizational chart providing the citizens with the ability to make contact at any level.
Pictures of the team affording you the comfort of putting a face with a responder in the case of an unexpected emergency. As a citizen it is nice to know who's on my team and saving the lives of my family and friends.
The graphs for both fire and emergency responses provide an in-depth view of the callls; type, number of, a breakdown between the city and village, and year to year comparisons.
Pictures of each station and equipment available at each. I am not real sure that I need to know the makes and models of the equipment, but I do know what's available and that it's in working order.
How safe we are as a result of the continual education/training both in fire fighting and EMT. CPR classes and multiple senarios in the fighting of a fire.
Information on what they do to incentify each of the individuals associated with the department. The awards drive commaradarie, chemistry, passion and a true desire to be the best they possibly can. This in addition to their oath assures the best care available.
Community involvement, both with schools, individuals and business.
In closing I would like to ask that the 2005 report be as imformative and in the same simple manner that it was in 2004.
Thanks for keeping the desire and motivation high, the education ongoing and for getting involved in the community. As a citizen it is very comforting knowing that we have "Best In Class" safety.
PS Keep using the Bookman Oldstyle font. I use that in my Power Point presentations all the time.
