Monday, July 06 2009 @ 04:24 PM CDT No, it would be better for the taxpayers just to cancel meetings and hopefully the proportionate wages paid to cc members.
That way they can't do something stupid!

Thursday, August 13 2009 @ 03:34 PM CDT Dale,
The word on the street is that a new Police Chief has been selected (but not disclosed to the taxpayers of the City). Has he accepted the job? Does he start on Jan 1? Did he get a raise over Bach? I am assuming that he met all the qualifications. Will he clean house and be allowed to make changes? Shouldn't we have more transparency in local government or is the City folowing the practices of the Obama regime?

Monday, July 13 2009 @ 02:29 PM CDT Dale,
The Village finally got some recognition of its own. Since the City piggy-backed off the village's amenities for its recent "affordable suburb" award, CNN and Money Magazine ranked the Village #61 on its list of Best Places in America to live. Dale, will news like this make you return to posting on your website? I think it should. Duke LaCrosse, Editor-in-Chief, CNN/Money Magazine

Friday, July 17 2009 @ 10:21 PM CDT I read that critique, and I do not recall village or city of Pewaukee being mentioned. Most of the world can't tell the difference. We share the same Zip code, the same location/name on maps. The term Pewaukee seemed to me to designate an area, not singling out the line drawn west of Hy. J ,south of Hy 16, or any other boundary we share.
While it mentioned the lake front, if they were referring to the Lake Front Park, that land is owned by the village, but the park is maintained and managed under the joint City/Village Park & Rec agreement. We can only speculate as to which community was awarded this designation. Why not accept the fact that the entire world (except those who live here) could care less if we are the village or the city? We are Pewaukee, and we should be thankful that our area is at the top of the list of places to live, rather than near the bottom.

Friday, July 17 2009 @ 11:07 PM CDT The last comment brought a few thoughts to mind.
If anyone is paying attention, call the Park Director and ask for the preliminary estimate to put four lighted baseball diamonds, one football field, an undetermined number of soccer fields, an irrigation system, a gravel walking path, and gravel parking lots for 500 cars on the land the city owns at the corner of Hy 74 & Lindsay Rd. You may be shocked (and awed?) to learn that estimate is $4,063,000. That price does not include maintenance labor and equipment, outbuildings, rest rooms, concession stands or playground equipment. How affordable will our area be when we (village and city) have to maintain the park, and city taxpayers have to repay the loan the park department wants the Common Council to approve for this "bare bones" expenditure to get the $2.6 Million park land (taxpayers are already repaying that loan) up to speed so we can actually use it for something other than a parking lot for Sussex Dozer Days? It seems that we have a Pollyanna attitude on the P&R board. They mean well, the plan is admittedly beautiful and a sports enthusiasts dream, but they seem to be oblivious as to what our current economy has done to peoples pocketbooks. We are furloughing employees, delaying filling vacant Police and Fire Dept positions , cutting every corner we can, but the Joint Park & Rec Department director and board continue to waste manpower and resources pursuing a plan which at this time should not even be considered. We simply can't afford to waste the limited money we have on planning or instituting this project.

Monday, July 20 2009 @ 10:25 AM CDT Park and Rec boards are supposed to offer the ideas, the governing bodies give the yay or nay.
The price does sound a bit high but you need to consider all the infrastructure costs more then the material items people will use. Are there park impact or development fees available for this project?

Monday, July 20 2009 @ 10:22 AM CDT I think that they are repairing the east railing that either got damaged during the winter from an accident or maybe the snowplow. Hopefully they will make it wider as the bridge is a bottleneck.

Wednesday, August 05 2009 @ 11:34 PM CDT Hijacking this thread....I see that some of our Village trustee's were talking about reducing the size of our board. Now here's a great money saving and efficiency increasing idea. Our board should be reduced from seven to 3. Having too many people involved just screws up the decision making process. Just look to our State and Congress! More just isn't better.
Lets face it, there just isn't that much real work that's being done by them to justify 7 people warming our chairs and collecting $30K for minimal work ( and at times not even showing up, but collecting anyways ). There isn't any of our people who are working themselves to the bone for us taxpayers as the board has hired guns to do the real work ( Village Admin, Clerk, and Engineer). We hear how hard and time consuming it is for them to represent us Village owners. Has any person ever been contacted by your trustees to find out your opinion on any issue around town? No one has ever contacted me to ask...but I'm out in front with my opinions anyways. Cutting to the bottom line, its been my experience that after people who have big ideas and get elected, they fall into lockstep with the other board members in about 3 months...go to the meetings if nothing else interfeers, vote yes, vote to adjourn, go home and wait for the check to arrive. Repeat same process next month. The worse case is to have to deal with a few citizen phone calls, if they aren't being screened first. Lets face it, no one is being represented by anyone. And so it goes. Andy Mueller, Pewaukee Village

Saturday, August 08 2009 @ 08:40 PM CDT Andy, don't live in the village, but if your trustees are paid $30,000 as you said, why don't you get elected, fall into lockstep, and live the High Life?

Monday, August 10 2009 @ 09:42 PM CDT I think Andy was talking about all 7 of them collecting a total of $30K, but that may even be more than the real total. Seems to me it's less than city reps get. I think it's around $3K each, with the Pres receiving a little more.
I guess it really doesn't matter, since even our dedicated Dale has flown the coop. July 6 was 5 weeks ago. Maybe Andy has a point.

Wednesday, August 12 2009 @ 11:41 AM CDT Yes...$30K total. That money would serve us Village owners much better being spent on fixing our crappy roads around town. Just look how bad Sussex St is, Ceceilia Drive by the park, Lake Street, Meadow Creek, Willow Grove, Park Hill Drive..and the list goes on. We can spend $$$ on ourselves, but not on our crumbling infrastructure.
BTW, East Green Road is REALLY terrible. Andy Mueller, Pewaukee Village

Wednesday, August 12 2009 @ 11:46 AM CDT Why would you want to go from being liked by people to being despised after 3 months in office because of dumb decisions made by your fellow board members? It wouldn't work too well as I'm more of a "hands on the wheel" guy rather than a board jockey being on autopilot.

Friday, August 14 2009 @ 11:18 PM CDT Hijacking this thread again..........as Dale is MIA.
Just received in the mail the fancy colored brochure from our Pewaukee School District ( PSD ). It says on the cover, "REACH FOR THE SKY". Boy, they aren't kidding when it comes to their 2010 spending plan. From what I could glean from this is that they are asking for an additional $835,000 for next year for a total of $25,035,497!!!. WOW -- Double WOW. IMO, in these severely troubled financial times, they should be cutting spending, not say "Reach for the Sky", give us more money. We could get by without all these EXTRA sport events and junkets as well as having a fitness center. We have plenty of these fitness centers around the area that those affected can get all the fitness they desire at their cost...not the taxpayers cost. They would become better students if they concentrated on the basics ( which some businesses/organizations are going back to, to become more efficient and productive ). We need students are are prepared to go out and get a job, who can read, clearly write and comprehend the written word! They should be able to do basic math without a calculator. Instead of advanced Calc, etc., most would be better served with advanced financial planing and how our money system works as well as how our economic system works and how our system of gov't works. They should have basic life skills besides sex, drugs, rock and roll, cell phones, texting, sexting, Ipods, 3G, and parties. I would suggest that our PPG should mobilize and get to the meeting on Monday and vote NO on the budget. Maybe then the PSD will get out their pencils ( err computers and blackberries) and cut alot of the fat/spam out as no one ever seems to challenge them. Just paying and smiling doesn't make education any better....like drugs, it just makes it worse. Everybody complains about the local gov't taxes and spending, but never seems to complain about the BIG spenders. Andy Mueller, Pewaukee Village ( I know, its for the "poor" kidz)

Saturday, August 15 2009 @ 10:19 PM CDT Not only are they asking the taxpayers for more money, they got an increase in their shared revenue from the state. So the extra money they want from us is over and above the amount they got from the state. I think Chris Durski is on the school board. She ran for Mayor of the city on the tax issue. Wonder where she stands on this?

Saturday, August 15 2009 @ 11:10 PM CDT I bet a sub at Cousins that she voted Yes for more taxes. After getting on the board, they just fall into lock step like a ton of bricks hitting the ground. Go along to get along and send the monthly check. Just your typical tax and spender, like our past Village Prez, Chuck "our taxer" Nichols.
He claimed he was against tax increases but voted for EVERY ONE including ADDING a NEW garbage tax just to look smart. They are all a bunch of phonies!!! Its apparent to me that our taxes aren't at all high enough as no one is complaining at the meetings. Until alot of people show up at the meetings like they are doing at these health care sessions, then we will know that taxes are too high. Andy Mueller, Pewaukee Village ( I know, I don't understand...as its for those poor childern [ tears in eyes].

Tuesday, August 25 2009 @ 12:46 PM CDT Dale - I'm confused. When you ran you promised full communications with your constituents and provided this site as an avenue that not only put out your views on issues but subjected others (including city officials) to anonymous criticism.
Now you're quiet and yet per Freeman alone, there has been lots happening since your July CC "no-meeting message." CONTRACTING POLICE SERVICES OUT? Significant issue - even a "heads-up" before the newspaper came would have been appreciated and in line with your earlier campaign platform. What's really up with this site?

Tuesday, August 25 2009 @ 02:01 PM CDT Does anyone really believe that the pro-Bach and anti-Bach factions within the department really just evaporated after his "retirement"? And with an outstanding action involving "paid" sergeant on leave since forever, is current service up to the level it should be at current costs? Hope everyone -- including all current aldermen/WOMAN really do keep an open mind. Lisbon has been very happy with their results.

Wednesday, August 26 2009 @ 07:04 PM CDT Not sure where you got your info from, Lisbon residents are still waiting for the big savings to appear...Taxes went up, the highway dept has been pillaged and there are continued complaints of no money in the budget. Maybe the lazy Mayor, common council and pewaukee administrator should take responsibility for thier own actions and stop blaming everyone else. Residents, (not that many even pay attention to this sight) you should recall the Mayor, isn't he the keeper of your escalating city problems...
