Friday, September 04 2009 @ 09:13 PM CDT The Sheriff gave his presentation, and it sounded good. But what else were you expecting? Any random person could have gone to the Waukesha County Sheriff's Dept website and put together the same slide show.
I think it's only fair to wait and see the other side of the issue when the Police Department gets to present their side. I'm sure the numbers will be quite a bit different, one way or another. I applaud the Common Council for giving the PD somewhat of a fair shot b/c I don't think they necessarily had to allow the PD to give their presentation. Not that the process has been fair to begin with. From what I understand, this idea has it's origins years ago without any PD personnel having any idea it was going on. It was very nice of the "Mayor" to give them a 3 day heads up. Very professional Mr. Klein. Nevermind that there are professional, as well as personal, interests hanging in the balance. Some people might lose their homes or vehicles if they aren't able to get another job right away. We're 0 for 2 with our last two mayors. Hopefully we'll elect someone competent in the next election.

Friday, September 04 2009 @ 10:12 PM CDT I don't understand your comment. If the Mayor evaluated the Chief's performance, and found it lacking, could he fire him? No. He does not have that power. Only the Police and Fire Commission can do that.

Sunday, September 06 2009 @ 02:31 AM CDT You have picked on one portion of my comment. I don't believe that the former Chief's performance was ever evaluated. If there was fear and/or intimidation towards his subordinates, who would have complained?
The purpose of my initial comment was that the department as a whole SHOULD NOT be judged unfairly. The officers are not responsible for the excessive spending. The citizens of the City of Pewaukee SHOULD be proud of their police department and the personal service that they provide.
